All Amestrian military officers and specialists received a summons via telegraph to report to the Fuhrer's office following the death of the Emperor. Upon entering the council room, Fuhrer King Bradley could be found sitting stoically at the head of the table. At precisely 5:00 PM, the council doors closed, admitting nobody else.

"Gentlemen. Ladies," Bradley began. "In the wake of the Emperor's demise, it seems once again it is the duty of the Right Hand to step up and take charge. Sawa is already posturing to take the Imperial Throne, but Mitsunari Ishida is not suited for the task, and with the Emperor out of the way I do not doubt we will face Zeon soon."

"General Cornelia, you and Colonel Mustang will move into the Imperial City and establish order. Filter your troops through Werrand and strike at Galumond."

"Suzaku, you are now promoted to the rank of Colonel. You and Edward are to annex Jergeth and bring it under Amestrian control. Major, you will move through Jergeth and strike at Ibenna. With luck, the governor who thinks he is a king will be taken quickly and the war will not be protracted."

"General Armstrong, you are in charge of defense. I am recalling Major Kisaragi, divert most of your forces to the Western front. You will have command of Xellos as well. I expect Char will move quickly, so let's destroy him before he thinks he has a chance of defeating us. That is all, any questions?"

You will command Major Kisaragi. I will be diverting additional troops to the area of the wall you normally oversee.

[armstronger]

"Understood." Jin Kisaragi doesn't have the best reputation for cooperation or stability. Hopefully he isn't too much of a problem.

"Shall I move out immediately?"

[unleashthefuhrer]

"Do so. If Kisaragi complains, you have my permission to use whatever disciplinary force you deem necessary. He needs to understand that he is a member of Amestris and must accord himself as such."

[armstronger]

"He'll learn his place before long, or be cast aside." She seems to perk up a bit at the thought. If there's anyone suited to testing his value as a part of a military machine instead of a dangerous loose cannon, it's her.

[trollsdragons]

Xellos steps forward, standing nearby Olivier with just the slightest of smirks. "A bit of trouble in the ranks, hmm?"

[armstronger]

Olivier glances up at him. "I've come to expect it when not working with my own men. Discipline is becoming a lost art."

[trollsdragons]

"Perhaps so, but there's always a chance of resurgence of interest - if one provides the proper motivations, of course." He turns his head to look toward the woman, though his eyes appear to remain closed. "I'm curious to see just how you do things, Miss Armstrong."

[armstronger]

"Even I can't motivate an entire country myself, though I can certainly provide a strong example." She'll have to keep a close eye on Xellos. He's not someone she gets the best vibes from.

"You'll get to see that example first hand fairly soon."

[trollsdragons]

The usual smile on the priest's face stretches just a bit. "I'll definitely be looking forward to it."

[armstronger]

Oh goody. "Don't presume that you'll be in charge in any way if you do accompany me, though."

[trollsdragons]

"Of course not, Gen-er-al~. As the Fuhrer said, you are in command." Even if he didn't like it, he would follow his orders. Technically.

[armstronger]

Yeah, she knows Xellos doesn't really like it. It'll be fun to see if she can push him around a little too. "Good. I'll have an aide report back to you with deployment times."

[trollsdragons]

Be wary what you push, Olivier. The last blonde woman who pushed Xellos, well... He pushes back. Hard.

Xellos nods, and gives a slight bow. "Very well, General. I shall be waiting," he answers, then slips away and moves to leave the room.

[armstronger]

If there's a conflict, then one of them will come out on top. That's the way the world works.

Olivier turns back to Bradley, waiting for his attention. "If I may ask one more question, sir."

[unleashthefuhrer]

"Permission granted, ask."

[armstronger]

"While you've made it obvious that you do not intend to recognize Ishida as the rightful heir, would you say the same of the others who wish to claim the throne as well? Some are considerably more competent than he is."

[unleashthefuhrer]

[Bradley pauses for a moment]

It depends on the person, I suppose. Lady Kushana does have a legitimate claims, although the heresy claims are troubling.

[armstronger]

"She certainly has the lineage. I can't vouch very far for her piousness, but she has a successful history of service defending Dagaria. Her competence as a military leader doesn't seem like it would be in question, nor would her loyalty."
