Party time and more [Action]

[In a ballroom at Central City.]

The auction was done and a hefty pile of wealth had been gathered to help pay for the reconstruction of Amestris in the wake of the devastating undead invasion. All that was left at this point was the after party, and EVERYONE has been invited. The majority of the party has moved to a huge ballroom, complete with an in house orchestra, several tables of light snacks and drinks, a large dancing area, tables around the edges of the room, and servants with trays of drinks making sure no one goes long without a glass. Brag about your newest acquisition, seeth with jealousy at the guy who bid more on the piece you wanted, enjoy fine food and drinks from across the empire, get drunk, dance, have fun. Mr. Wayne is footing the bill tonight.

[Elsewhere, later that evening...]

A dark figure edges close to the tall wall surrounding the manor belonging to the mysterious man known only as The Major. It produces a grappling hook from under its cloak, and is perched atop the wall in short order to get a better look at what it has to contend with here.

Indiana came dressed in a comfortable brown suit that while formal - stands out from the rest in the utter lack of ornaments or symbols of wealth or power - representing the University much to his displeasure. He shook hands or bowed as appropriate, thanking those who funded it, especially his expeditions.

He taken to grabbing some drinks to keep his calm - least he managed to win the bid on an old spice box that had little material value, but was a piece of early church history.

"Congratulations are in order for your victory," the Major says as he walks over to Indiana with yet another glass of champagne. He gives the man a smile and raises his glass off to him to greet him. "That spice box of yours wasn't something that I had bid on, but a friend of mine had certainly wanted it. In his place, I congratulate you."

The Major spent the evening mostly bidding on military regalia. It seemed like a convenient opportunity to take them from the hands of his colleagues who had no need of them. His men had carried off the ornamented sword and flags that he had won.

Indy had noticed and kept his opinions to himself, while collecting historical treasures often include war memorabilia - only looking towards such objects is a little odd in his opinion.

"Thank you Major." He gave a polite nod. "I'm always on the look out for whatever could shed light on the unknown chapters of Dagaria's history."

"And I would expect nothing less from a famed archaeologist such as yourself," the Major says with his default, cheerful tone. "We need every mind we can to uncover more of our lost cultures and histories. The champions of struggle are the ones who shape history, but how they must mourn being forgotten so easily over the course of time."

Indiana Jones nods politely. "It's a way to honor the sacrifices they made, and as they say it's the Victor who writes history, often leaving details out."

As Victoria mingled, she caught sight of someone less extravagantly dressed than the rest. Further observation lead her to the conclusion, and a little ease dropping, that he was a scholar of some sort.

Of course, that managed to gain the Lady's attention. Victoria wandered over to him, wine glass in hand an a small pleasant smile on her lips.

"Congratulations on your win in the auction Mr. Jones. I admit, I was a bit surprised anyone showed interest in that item. It seemed hardly interesting."

Unlike her own contribution. A rather large ivory pillar with ancient carvings from a period predating the church.

"Thank you, Lady Winter." Indy smiled quietly. "It may not be a prized treasure, but it is an important relic from the era - and well preserved. It does seem as thought it still has myrrh inside. I do wonder where you found your contribution."
noblemonster: (I see)

"It has been in my family's collection for quite some time actually. I merely felt it was time to downsize a little, for a good cause of course."

The truth behind the pillar would remain with her of course. Victoria just smiled, curious to see if he would ask more about it.

"If your purchase still has myrrh inside of it, then perhaps it was worth its price. A fine relic find indeed."

"Is that so?" He inquired, raising his brow over his glasses. "May I ask as to how your family acquired such a treasure?" Indy is a curious man.

"Perhaps or it's just the scent, I will have to open it once I return home."

That curiosity may lead to strange places if he's not careful. "On that, I may have to check my collections records. When a clan dates back over thirteen generations, it can be a little difficult exactly how an item was acquired."
