Ringford in Flames

Who: Millennium, Ringford, and those that would defend the fairies
Where: Ringford
When: Sometime after the Winter Court
What: Fairy Genocide

A small fleet of airships have been flying towards Britain for the last few days. Finally, they've crossed the border and without any sign of struggle from opposing kingdoms. Bradley has done his part for the Major by clearing a way into the kingdom. He mustn't fail the Fuhrer now. Not when he and his Millennium faction was given so much confidence in succeeding with this mission. The Major sits in his captain's seat within the airship's bridge. He leans down on his seat with both arms resting beside him.

His soldiers are all organized into lines in front of the Major, waiting for an opening speech before the war starts. As the airship approaches Ringford, the Major stands up from his seat and begins his speech.

"Friends... You have heard our Emperor's delusions about attaining peace and tranquility. The Winter Court was organized to emphasize this message. And as you know, I and the Werwolf Division gave ourselves invitations and attended the festivities. Do you wish to know what I have seen in the Imperial City?

As I've walked through the streets, I saw a little man stab a watchman again and again. It was as if red flowers bloomed with each pierce and petals, oh, the petals danced through the air and splattered the snow, the mage's robes, and the poor watchman's dead corpse. I heard screams and shouts of noblemen from down the hall in my hotel that were silenced by what could only be an assassin and his knife. Even those closest to the Emperor, while hailing peace and the necessity of discourse, would utilize the power of the coin to crush their political rivals.

Peace has long vanished from this Earth since the dawn of man. Would you like to know when the most peaceful times were in this Earth? It was when flames bathed all corners of the globe. The so-called "peace" in such a time is unparalleled to any period in time or history that a human so much as breathed on the world.

We will never have peace, my friends. And if peace should ever be brought, it will be when every last human being and animal have been wiped out from the face of this earth and the world is once again bathed in flames. In order to achieve that, conflict is necessary. War must be fought time and time again until there is nothing left whatsoever. Then, my friends... shall we show those fools in the imperial city just how it is that we would make peace?

Yes! Let us return this world to flames starting with the Kingdom of Ringford! They've lied in isolation for thousands of years, hoping to avoid being pulled into the violent affairs of man. They are quite adept with hunting animals with those bows and arrows and pitiful weapons of theirs, but... they have yet to face against the most brutal, relentless animal known to this world: man. And we of the Millennium faction, the Last Battalion, are men who only know struggle, of war, of krieg.

I bring to you friends, a massacre. A feast that you should enjoy to the fullest. Show our pretty, little friends how weak that they have grown... how wrong it was to avert their eyes from the affairs of man. Make them regret their final moments as you throw your swords into their throats.

Now, gentlemen..."

On cue, a soldier arrives with a tray holding a single glass of champagne. The rest of the soldiers facing the Major hold theirs up as well. The blonde, portly man grabs his glass and raises it into the air.

"... Slaughter and rape to your hearts' content. Kill and be killed. Let us have a toast..."

The airships, as they stopped just above Ringford, began to prepare their initial barrage of explosives. The doors opened for the rockets to shoot forward.

"... to our genocide and the war that begins here and now, forevermore."

The Major extends his arm out and releases his grasp on his wine-filled glass, allowing it to fall towards the floor. The soldiers mimic the Major's gesture and as the wine glass falls to the earth and shatters...

the bombs are prepared and the fleet of airships simultaneously release them. Blazing through the air, they all drop down towards every inch of the forest. Columns of smoke and flames rise into the air with mixtures of ashes carried in the winds. Soldiers rushed from the bridge and to the loading bay where machines of war would usually be held. The Major, however, did not requisition any golem, war wagon, or anything of the like to assist him in this war. All he had were his troops.

And it was his troops that began leaping out as the compartments of the airships opened. Surprisingly, without any support, the armored men would all land safely on the grounds of the burning forest and the genocide would begin. The Major sat back in his chair, looking out into the windows as the Kingdom of Ringford has reached its final minutes.

The fresh smell of napalm and fire spread through the air like a plague through a small village. Flames consumed the trees, plants, and even animals that stood in their path. But that was merely the tip as of the iceberg as hundreds of troops reigned from the sky towards their destination. They all were eager and excited to start the war, to rip apart their new enemies lib from lib. To destroy, burn, and crush anything and everything in their path. As the final troop landed, they all stood at attention.

And soon, a hatch on one of the airships flew open, and a figure descended from it at breakneck speeds, yet managing to stay perfectly still in the air, before flipping stiffly a few times in the air. He landed right in front of the army with a loud thump, the tails of his coat rippling in the wind. The Captain stood up and raised his hand, and the troops stood still. But they didn't stay that way for long, as he brought his hand down and charged for the kingdom, the army right behind him, armed to the teeth.

As a rule, Mokou doesn't pick sides when it comes to politics. After long enough in the realm, all the different sides start to look too similar for that. But picking on the defenseless is where she draws the line.

Which is why the Captain's path was rather suddenly impeded with a tornado of flames, twice the height of a man.

A pillar of flames would shock anyone, but the Captain regards it with that expressionless face he always does. Still, that fire was unexpected. Sure, the place was IN FLAMES, but the positioning of it was off. He knew this, so he looked in all directions to discover the location of whoever was causing this, magic wasn't all that uncommon after all. After a pause, he signaled the troops to go on without him, get around the flames by whatever means necessary. He'd find out what was causing this.

He didn't need to look long, as the tornado shortly hurled itself forwards, tearing directly towards the Captain and whatever forces were behind him. Standing at the center of where it had been, hands in her pockets, was what looked like a girl in her early twenties, apparently unharmed by the flames.

She met the Captain's eyes. "I thought men in this era prized chivalry and honor."

Yet another dodge would be in order to avoid the flames. This was starting to get annoying. However, whatever feelings the Captain had at that moment were shattered when he recognized the woman's voice...and then when he say her for the first time in hundreds of years. The emotion he was feeling now was surprise, but he while he kept it in check, it was noticeable.

Reading the expression, Mokou sifted through centuries of memories, trying to place the Captain's face. It had been a brief encounter, but...

"Looks like you didn't find what you were looking for. At least this means that neither of us have to hold back."

The Captain merely looked at her, his red eyes meeting her own. Finally, he shook his head. There would be no holding back. Perhaps this would be the fight that finally ends him, just the thought of it got his blood pumping. He gestured to his men, before wagging his finger in a "tsk, tsk" manner to the woman. He then pointed to her, then finally to himself. The message was clear, ignore his men. Fight him one on one.

Mokou hesitated, thinking of the damage that was being done to Ringford, but the less distractions she had, the longer she'd be able to keep this one busy. He didn't seem much for words anymore, so she just nodded.

Hands still in her pockets, she waited for hi to make the first move.

He wasn't much for words anymore, they were of no use to him. He instead tended to focus his attention on other things, like his new opponent. The men had left to wage war, and he was here hoping to fight and die. To him, this was far better than genocide. If she had lived this long, it meant she was an immortal like him, and that she could possibly kill him.

However, now was not the time for hoping, it was the time for action. His first hand went to the brim of his cap, which he remove and dropped to the side of him. He then removed his overcoat, revealing him to be shirtless...but he looked fairly normal.

...until mist emitted from his body. In fact...parts of it seemed to be his body, as it changed...

And finally, the mist expanded and separated from his body, separating his body, when it swirled around again, a giant white wolf with the same red eyes stood in front of Mokou. His wolf form was out.

Finally, he charged at her with breakneck speeds.

[identity profile] immortal-smoke.livejournal.com 2011-12-02 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Mokou didn't waste any time countering the charge. She drove one fist into the ground, sending forth a lightning-fast shockwave out in a line towards the monster.

Where the shockwave passed, the ground shattered and let forth great surges of flame from beneath its surface.

Sorry I'm late. ) :

The Captain will not stop his charge, and will jump over the shockwaves and plow through the fire, the flames burning his so-called "fur". However, a shift of the mist making up his body, and he no worse for the ware. He opens his mouth, revealing massive fangs before lunging at her again, ready to bite her.

[identity profile] immortal-smoke.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Mokou only dodges far enough to avoid a strike to the neck - the Captain's teeth do meet flesh, but on her left shoulder instead.

Then again, Mokou's an immortal, so she can take that, can't she? Barely slowed down by the grievous injury, the girl delivers a white-hot lance of flame from her right hand, at point blank range, directly against the side of the Captain's head.

The lance connects, not a surprise considering how close he was to Mokou. With a snarl, the Captain stumbles back, as literally half his wolfish face is missing. The mist changes of his body changes, working to regenerate his wound. Despite the face that it managed to regenerate, there was still blood on his face.

Another shift of the mist, and he returned to his human form, aiming a powerful kick right for her throat.
