Court
Who: Rulers, Diplomats, Magistrates and other talky folk
Where: Imperial Castle, Throne Room
What: Holding Court, political intrigues, talking smack, standard stuff
When: Generally throughout Spring Court
Warnings: Bitchiness
In the eyes of the Emperor, battles - if necessary - were fought with words. What the Emperor did not, or perhaps refused to realize was these battles were often just as bitter and damaging as the ones he had stopped at the beginning of his reign. Here, between false smiles people fought the war of politics, of slander and coercion. But to the Emperor, there was peace, and that was all that mattered.
[This is generally an open post for people to be political at each other, whoever wants in is welcome to do so. General expectations of court are that nobody is overtly offensive, but coming up with clever insults via backhanded compliment and casual observation are something of an art form, so while characters are encouraged to be mean, they are encouraged to do so in a sneaky manner.
There will be a single thread for Imperial Petitions, characters may go before the Emperor and request boons. The petitions thread is intended for Diplomats, Kingdom and Faction leaders, although others can petition as well, just with a much lower chance of getting anything out of it. Petitions can be requests for Imperial support in an argument, to extra forces to fight the Rift, to the aid of magical items or money. Be prepared to make a good pitch. Obviously you are not required to be 100% honest as to why you're asking or why it will be good for the Empire that you get it. The Emperor may question your petition if he feels he must before making a final decision.
If you see someone petitioning for something your character would prefer they not get, you MAY interrupt with your own character and attempt to slander them out of it. This may result in penalties for your character, naturally, and we ask that you check in with petitioners. Petitioners can signal they are fine with people cutting in by indicating "OK to interrupt" in the subject line of their post.]

Petitions to the Emperor

"Your Majesty. My name is Medea and I come on behalf of Rome as its Viscount. I ask that I be able to acquire a certain blade from the Empire's treasury. The blade is one of a kind and the only one in the treasury to be forged in Colchis. For the sake of the Empire, Rome, and of my queen, Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, I have spent these past months finding ways to challenge the fugitive Avshar, responsible for much of our land's turmoil in recent days. Until now, efforts against him have proved to bear little results. However, I have fought with him and examined his skills. He draws power directly from the evil god, Skotos.
I believe that the blade has the power to disrupt his connection with his abominable god. The key to our victory against this scourge is within our grasp. I simply ask His Majesty for permission to use it."

"Your Majesty I come before you to ask a boon." His gray eyes will look up, locking with the Emperor's gaze.
"But it is not a personal boon, as such. Rather, I would ask that the Crusade Company, recently led against Rift forces in both Amestris and Zeon, be given official recognition as a force dedicated to opposing and destroying corruption, both that which emanates from the Rift, and that which has been plaguing our land in other places. I have no doubt you have heard of the recent destruction of the Village of Mist, your majesty, and I would suggest that an internal defensive force is useful to Dagaria as a whole, as well as having the eternal defense of the Riftguard. Recognized and empowered by the throne to cross borders with minimal friction and negotiation, they could provide a critical reaction force to any outbreak of overtly Rift-corrupted activity within the Empire. They would be strictly apolitical, though by necessity the core of the force would have to be the initial levy of Roman troopers that were trained and fought against the Corrupt previously, though anyone could join. It would be stationed initially in Hirawyr, and anyone, from any of the Kingdoms, could join."
Loken pauses, and says, "We already exist as an organization, your Majesty, I simply ask for recognition so that we can undertake the honorable task of fighting corruption either at the borders of Dagaria, or within them, as best we can."

He's really not supposed to be here, though he at least is putting forth a look of being harmless enough...]

[It was hard to say how long Eiki had been standing to his side, it probably hadn't been very long though.]
But, perhaps this is a perfect environment for you.
[Despite her words her tone was pleasant and she was smiling.]

Ears forward and arms crossed, Taryn's excellent hearing and sense of smell takes in everything going on. She's contemplating speaking with the Emperor in regards to Lerrian, but is having her own internal debate about it. So while she mulls the idea over, she keeps an eye out for things that might interest her... or her people.]

However she seemed to not be representing anyone, instead she passed through the crowds and would chat momentarily with people. If snippets of conversation were heard one would come to notice that all of her conversations were admonishments to people. Chastising them for behaviors and actions and suggestions on how to improve their life. This seemed to be her goal for being here.

Alright, that's a bit of a misnomer, but there is a very, very short woman moving swiftly about the crowd. She's about the size of a ten year old child - a somewhat undersized one at that, which means you'll have to look down a little ways to see her.
Not that it's hard to miss the bright, fiery red hair she possesses.
That said...
She wants to ask you a question.
You.
Yes.
You.
Listen for a second.
"So, what do you think about what's going on now?" Look down if you want to know who's speaking.
