Poemond Battle

Who: Order of the Black Knights, Amestris soldiers stationed in Poemond
Where: Poemond
What: Skirmish
When: Night after the emperor's death.

Zero knows full well his forces cannot stand up to the military might of Poemond. After all, they are still a rebellion, one with enough members to take out small battalions, but certainly not the entire security around the border.

This is not a mission to take Poemond, he has made clear to his subordinates. It's entirely a psychological tactic, as well as a means to gather information on their first targets. If they can give off the impression that they are not a force to be reckoned with, they can speed up the advance of Amestris towards Jergeth. Exactly what Zero wants to happen.

Of course, even though Zero has commanded his men to retreat once the battle stops going in their favor, they are still more than willing to eliminate enemy combatants at any opportunity they may have. He has even instructed them to capture them, if at all possible. Colonel Roy Mustang is known for an exceeding degree of camaraderie with his men. If one of them 'escapes' after the effect of Zero's Geass, then he is bound to accept him, despite the risk such an action may carry.

Zero himself is not present. Not physically. His force only holds a couple of bunkers in the field, and they are certainly not exceedingly powerful, but there's an unspoken acknowledgment that if he dies, the rebellion will wither and die. Issuing orders through a radio is the best tactic he could take right now. Of course, the bunker is still on the field of battle, and Lelouch has seen fit to assign it to an strategic location, that they may assure the escape of his troops. Fitting with his ideology.

"Now then, Cornelia. Colonel." he begins, allowing himself to savor the true start of his rebellion, however unsuccessful he knows it will seem. "Let's see if the so-called 'battles' of Ishval didn't dull your skills."
