Homecoming
Who: Arthas, Emperor Menethil, and any bystanders checking out the parade.
What: A prince returns to his father's side. Also, parade.
When: The last day of Spring Court.
Warnings: Plot.
When a royal prince returns from a military campaign, he doesn't do so quietly. Especially not after removing such a plague on the empire as the lich Xykon. The remaining men of Arthas's company march through the city streets, surrounded by a grand procession of the royal guard and a great deal of pomp and circumstance. Rose petals rain down from above the procession - one advantage of the destiny crystals is that it makes it easier to prepare for the exact time that someone will be arriving.
Near the front of the parade is Arthas himself, in full imperial regalia. Even from a distance, it's not hard to tell that whatever happened out there, it changed the young prince drastically. He rides hooded, hair that once nearly glowed in the sunlight hanging around his face in pale strands. On his back, in the place of the hammer Lightbringer is an imposing, serrated greatsword. He does not wave at the crowds watching; on the contrary, he barely seems to acknowledge their existence.
Arthas opens his hand, and a rose petal falls into it. He looks up at the skies above, eyes hidden by his hood, still lost in a dark cloud of inscrutable thought. Then, he lowers his head again and marches on toward the palace.
